What a year, eh? Yes, that's right, a year ago today, myself and my co-editor Josh created A Space Oddity. And we are so grateful of everyone who has supported us for the past 365 days. Whether it be through commenting on our blog posts, to liking our posts on Instagram, we are so very honoured to have everyone's support and love. We wouldn't have continued it without the comments and messages we receive.
As you may have noticed, as part of our 1 year anniversary, the site has upgraded to its new domain of: aspaceoddity.co.uk which truly is a very exciting step! And it's only just beginning. We are dedicated to bringing you what you came for in the first place, trustworthy, entertaining and exciting news, reviews and podcasts. So let's take a look back at our year of A Space Oddity- and feel free to check out some of our old posts by clicking the links in the text!
On December 12th, one day after being set up, we introduced ourselves to the Universe- with a big Hello! And just days later, we reviewed the emotionally exhausting yet beautiful, Twice Upon A Time, the swansong to the 12th Doctor from Doctor Who.
As the new year arrived, we had ourselves a brand new Ant Man and the Wasp teaser, and our old favourite The Weekly Oddity begun! Remember those? I'd love to bring those back!
February saw the release of the epic Black Panther to cinema screens across the globe, along with our spoiler-free and spoiler-filled reviews. We also got treated to the very first announcement of Doctor Who Series 11.
March was the month of the multitude of Avengers: Infinity War trailers and TV-Spots. Wow! We must have broken down every single scene of that movie and we still didn't get any of it right!
Okay, so April was the month of Infinity War (well, we did a whole week dedicated to it) where we theorized, broke down teasers, looked at the box office predictions and ended with our spoiler free review of the film- available as a podcast.
And as the dust settled on Infinity War (ouch!) it was time to lighten up the mood with some Deadpool 2! We reviewed the wonderful DP2 in May of 2018, along with breaking down another AM&TW TV Spot and the leaked Shazam set photos!
June 2018 was admittedly a rather quiet month, as we covered the Disney-Fox company merger (which we still don't know much about). Oh, and we reviewed Solo: A Star Wars Story. Yeah, that still happened!
July- SAN DIEGO COMIC CON! A busy, busy time for us two. As we covered everything released during the mad week that was SDCC, we dedicated a whole sub-page to it which can be found here! We covered Doctor Who, Titans, Star Wars, Glass, Young Justice, Aquaman, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Shazam!, Arrow, Black Lightning, Flash, The Crimes of Grindelwald, Venom, Gotham and Riverdale! Blimey.
August was another quiet month, a month we spent reeling after SDCC, but the best was yet to come! Because all these trailers eventually led to some great films and television! Josh got to discuss his top 5 favourite Spider-man villains, we discussed the possible future of Marvel Studios past Phase 4 and broke down the latest Riverdale trailer.
September saw the release of a ton of Marvel news, including the new Disney streaming service, the 2nd Doctor Who Series 11 trailer and arguably my most personal (and favourite?) article, my review of the Arctic Monkeys album: 'Tranquility Base: Hotel and Casino', with the very long headline of: An Anachronistic Tale of a Sheffield Space Hotel.
October, we saw the premiere of Doctor Who Series 11 with 'The Woman Who Fell To Earth', and the release of a brand new 'Glass' trailer that was absolutely a-maz-ing!
November, and Doctor Who was in full swing, and so were our exams! Yes, admittedly, A Space Oddity went a bit quiet, but that wasn't for long as we have a lot more exciting things to cover as the weeks progress.
Wow, what a way to end the year! Avengers 4 finally got a title and trailer! Avengers: Endgame is the name of the beauty, and we got treated to a 2 1/2 minute long trailer, too! Something which we reviewed immediately! And can we mentioned, thank you for just under 1,000 likes (as of writing!) on our post for this review, it truly is appreciated!
And here we are, on December 11th 2018. Exactly a year on from when this journey begun. It's been one heck of a year, and we aren't done yet. In fact, we are only just beginning. Thank you to everyone for sticking around, we hope you continue to come back to our site for more exciting news, reviews and podcasts. - A Space Oddity.
