So this is it. Tomorrow both of us at 'A Space Oddity' will be seeing Avengers: Infinity War with a Podcast to come straight afterwards for you to listen to! In the mean-time, let's do a little bit of maths shall we? Let's look at Infinity War's Box Office! Please note that our first review will not contain any spoilers, our spoiler filled review will be coming next week.
Thursday night previews domestically in the United States (26th April) racked up a colossal $39 million — the highest ever for a Marvel film so far, way ahead of Captain America: Civil War at $25 million, the most recent, Black Panther ($25.2 million) and Avengers: Age of Ultron ($27.6 million).
Although it seems Infinity War isn't going to beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens for the weekend as a whole, as it’s "only" the fourth-biggest preview gross of all time.
Internationally, Avengers: Infinity War has earned $95 million in its first two days, breaking records in many countries including the United Kingdom. To nearly hit the $100 million mark before Friday is incredibly impressive — the first full day of screenings in the U.S. — has even started.
Avengers: Infinity War opens worldwide today and has a good shot at breaking box-office records, with early estimates coming in around $500 million globally, with no signs of slowing down. But whether Avengers: Infinity War can surpass the $248 million opening weekend of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a different story. Infinity War probably must get close to a new Friday record ($105m-$110m) to potentially set a new opening weekend record.
Now we put it to you!
