1. Iron Man / Tony Stark
Since I first watched Iron Man 1 in around 2013 (Yes, I was late to the party!) I fell in love with Robert Downey Jr's portrayal of a celebrity superhero. Downey Jr was the very first superhero I officially sunk my teeth into, and since then, I never looked back. Since his first solo outing in 2008 up until Avengers: Infinity War, we've grown with Tony, we've seen him develop into a totally different character while remaining the same loveable, cocky, irritating billionaire we know and love. That's why Iron Man is my Number One!
Now, belt up, sit down, perhaps get a drink- alcoholic, if you're allowed. I hated Thor until 2017. I never understood the love that people had for the hunk of muscle wearing a cape, that's until Thor: Ragnarok came around. The first time I thought that a Thor movie could be good- and it did not disappoint! Director Taika Waititi will forever hold a special place in my heart for completely making my opinion on Thor do a U-Turn. I despised the dark, fantastical aspects of the previous movies so much that I just gave up and didn't want anything to do with the Son of Odin. Thor: Ragnarok was such a breeze of fresh air that I was able to finally love the aforementioned hunk of muscle that was the wonderful Chris Hemsworth.
3. Black Panther / T'Challa
My King, my brother... T'Challa. Wow. Where do we begin? First introduced in the exceptional, Captain America: Civil War, T'Challa truly made his mark on the MCU. Often compared to the Batman of Marvel, Chadwick Boseman brilliantly showed us the different aspects that goes into being a successful superhero- a superhero that has flaws. 2018's solo adventure for the Wakandan Prince and King was a masterpiece to behold and Boseman brought everything that we wanted to the role, and more. Wakanda Forever!- It's compulsory, okay?
"I'm not a queen, nor a monster, I'm the Goddess of Death". Hela. You are my Queen. Need I say more? Yes? Fine. Hela, portrayed by the incredibly captivating Cate Blanchett, is one of my favourite every Marvel characters for a plethora of reasons. After leaving the theatre of Thor Ragnarok, I didn't only leave feeling a sense of joy from loving Thor again, no, I left wanting to be Hela. Yes, be Hela. Wasn't she just great? Cate had an immense screen presence, unlike any other Marvel villain to date (arguably until Killmonger arrived), she walked the golden streets of Asgard and brought chaos in it's wake. She had elegance, strength and a wicked atmosphere that very few characters and actors could pull off.
5. The Grandmaster
Perhaps the most surprising addition to this list, Jeff Goldblums 'Grandmaster' was something to behold during, again, Thor: Ragnarok (You can tell it's one of my favourites, right?). The perfect balance of sinister and satirical, Goldblum brought exactly what we needed to the role of the Grandmaster- himself. The quirky outfits, the quirky talk and quirky persona were just the icing on the Ragnarok cake for such a quirky movie. I think everyone fell in love with the character- even if he is considerably different to the comic book version. If you get the chance, and haven't already seen it, watch the hilarious video below of The Grandmaster meeting Daryl- Thor's old housemate. I also recommend you watch the Thor: Ragnarok deleted scenes, they're something else!
