Welcome to this weeks Weekly Oddity and we have three huge stories to cover.
DC have released a trailer for its new streaming service DC Universe. The streaming service will provide exclusive tv shows, and will add classic shows and movies along with it such as Batman the Animated Series and Batman Returns, It doesn't only provide Tv shows and Movies, however it also lets users read latest comics which will create easy access to new comics to those who find it difficult to get them.
Along with the trailer DC also released two amazing photos of Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson:
Jared Leto is already part of the DCEU as the Joker, however he is crossing over to Sony's cinematic universe as he has been cast as Morbius the Living Vampire, which is being directed by Daniel Espinosa.
Here is some backstory on the character courtesy of Marvel Wikia:
"Dr Michael Morbius was a brilliant scientist born in Greece who became a Nobel Prize winning biochemist. He suffered from a debilitating blood disease and developed an experimental treatment involving vampire bats and electroshocks. Its side effects turned him into a pseudo-vampire who needed to consume blood in order to survive, and gained typical vampire characteristics such as an aversion to sunlight, and the powers of flight, enhanced strength, speed, and healing (a healing factor). His overall appearance changed as well: he gained fangs, his nose flattened to appear more bat-like, and his skin became extremely pale. Additionally, the victims of his bite would turn into living vampires themselves. When he first experienced the change, he killed the assistant who had helped him develop the treatment."
During an interview with Cinemablend Kevin Feige said this about phase 4 and beyond:
"It's one of the reasons we've expanded to three films a year, is so that we could do the sequels to films that people have responded to -- because we love to make continuing stories with characters people have responded to -- but also keep doing the stuff that nobody's ever heard of, and people go, 'Why are you doing that?' That's fun. And that's what Phase One was built on, Phase Two was built on, Phase Three was built on, is having that... Whenever we announce the next year, two years, three years, five years, whatever we're going to announce, there will be plenty of those that, maybe people in the know like yourself will know what they are, but the world at large will go, 'What is it? Why are they doing that?' That's exciting, for sure.
When you've got, what is it now, six, seven separate franchises? It's part of the scheduling process. Sometimes when people ask, 'What about this character, what about that character?' I go, 'Well, it's scheduling.' And they go, 'What's he talking about?' Scheduling. How many years between movies can you have? You know, [Thor:] Ragnarok was four years. There's four years between, right? He had an appearance in between there. So that seems to be maybe okay - sometimes, though, you want it to be less. Sometimes it can be more.
Sometimes it's where do those characters pop up? [Doctor] Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange one, which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he's a very big part of Infinity War. So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things."
His response is definitely intriguing as it confirms that Doctor Strange will definitely be getting another movie within the next few years. It also shows how Marvel have already got plans for future movies and they know which characters are going to be introduced. It is becoming extremely exciting with the Ant-Man and the Wasp film just being released and Captain Marvel next, that's two new heroes that can feature in the next Avengers movie. Whatever the future holds its going to be brilliant. Stay tuned for more information!
